One-Third Of People Say ‘I Love You’ Within A Week

The cool breezes of autumn may have you looking for something a bit more human than a pillow to snuggle with. As you start the hunt for fall romance—or continue with your current relationship—a new survey from the makers of Wet personal lubricants has a few tips to share.

“I Love You.” Most romantic comedies (or a good episode of How I Met Your Mother) would have you think that saying “I love you” too early in a relationship can send your partner heading for the hills. Wet’s survey indeed revealed that 44 percent of people like to wait at least six months before confessing their love. However, almost one-third of respondents have pulled a Ted Mosby and let the L-word loose within one week of meeting someone. Meanwhile, 25 percent will only say it if their partner does first. 97 Days Is The Norm For ‘I Love You’

The date. More than half of the respondents in Wet’s survey say experimenting between the sheets or going for a romantic stroll were ideal dates (wait a sec…should those even count as dates?) To set the mood for the evening, the majority of respondents go for romantic foods like champagne and chocolate-covered strawberries. More than 60 percent would respond to a romantic gesture with a passionate kiss.
